Biography

| Susan Bruce is an experimental video artist who lives and works in Adelaide, South Australia. Her work includes experimental video,
short films and recently a documentary. She holds a MVA in Visual Arts from the University of South Australia. Her work has been screened
in galleries and video & film festivals in Australia, Europe and USA (SALA Moving Image Festival, Adelaide, 15/15 Festival, Melbourne,
San Francisco International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, Melbourne International 50th Film Festival, Mix Festival, The 14th New York
Lesbian and Gay Experimental Film and Video Festival, Lesbian Film Festival, Berlin).
Her video work examines the mundane and domestic, and address issues such as illness, family and interior/exterior space. Her videos use
degraded imagery to express everyday life with all its complexities and contingencies. She has also used journal entries in the form of
poems that deal with specific feelings, memories and responses to events.

| Recent Work

Recently, she has produced/directed a documentary Drowning Duncan. This documentary examines what happened in May 1972 to Dr George Duncan.
At the time it was illegal to be a homosexual, and it was common practice for men who were thought to be homosexuals to be pushed into the
Torrens River in Adelaide. This event led to SA being the first state in to introduce gay law reform.
